The Power led 6-3 after one quarter, but the Knighthawks chipped away until the game was tied 8-8 with 15 minutes left in regulation. A three-goal fourth-quarter run by Washington's Kip Fulks at 9:03, Paul Gait at 9:29 and Gary Gait at 11:39 put the Power up 12-10, but it wasn't enough. Duane Jacobs cut the margin to one with 1:28 left, and Cory Bomberry equalized with two seconds on the clock.
The game-winner was Gait's sixth goal of the game. He also finished with four assists. Gary Gait and Fulks each scored twice, while Del Halladay had one goal and four assists, and Matt Shearer set up five tallies.
Bomberry and Shawn Williams each finished with hat tricks for the Knighthawks, while John Grant and Derek Malawsky had five assists each.
Both goaltenders, winner Devin Dalep and Rochester's Pat O'Toole, made 63 saves.
