March 19, 2002 - The 2002 installment of the DC - Baltimore rivalry began with a huge afternoon on March 19, as Loyola and Gilman headed south to face Landon and Georgetown Prep respectively.

With plenty of games left in the regional rivalry, including the latest DC powerhouse DeMatha at Loyola on April 5 and a huge Gilman-Landon match up in Baltimore on May 7 just to name a couple, DC takes the early lead in the I-95 Series.
To be truthful, none of the coaches will admit that there is a rivalry between specific schools like Gilman-Landon and Georgetown Prep-Loyola but we can see in the eyes of the kids playing and hear in the conversation of the parents on the sideline that there is.
Loyola's Ben Yingling was outstanding in the cage
These cross region games offer a fantastic look at some of the best players in the game playing some of the best lacrosse you ever saw in high school, but if you're looking for an intense fan experience, skip these games. The Gilman-Loyola (4/19 @ Gilman), or any huge MIAA game, and Georgetown Prep-Landon (4/25 @ Prep) games played near the end of the league seasons are a much bigger deal for the non-playing students at the schools and the games feel like a festival or some other HUGE event when in attendance.
