WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior Laura Spaulding and freshman Megan Murphy each scored three goals to lead St. Bonaventure's women's lacrosse team to a 16-9 win at Howard University on Thursday, evening the Bonnies' record at 1-1.
Murphy, senior Colleen Crane and junior Kelly Chevez scored the final three goals of the first half to give the Bonnies a 9-5 lead at intermission. Chevez did all of her scoring in the first half, when she notched two goals and assisted on two others.
Spaulding helped the Bonnies maintain their lead. She had two of St. Bonaventure's five goals over the first 12 minutes of the second half.
Freshman Eileen Gagnon made five saves in goal to record her first collegiate win.
Crane and freshman Katie Hurley both scored two goals. Sophomores Sarah Dressler, Courtney Gibbons, Kate McNerney and Nicole Motondo each scored once.
