Alfred evens record with victory over Kenyon

BALTIMORE, MD - The Alfred University men's lacrosse team evened its 2004 record with a convincing 17-8 victory Wednesday over Kenyon College, in the second of two games played in Baltimore.




Alfred (1-1, 0-0 Empire 8) fell behind after one quarter, 4-2. The Saxons took control of the game by outscoring Kenyon 13-2 over the next two quarters to take a 15-6 lead into the final stanza.




Freshman midfielder Andy German (Wayne, PA/Radnor) scored five goals to give him eight in his first two collegiate games. Senior attackmen Dylan Macro (Camillus/West Genesee), Trevor Archer (Penn Yan/Penn Yan) and David Vail (Mt. Lakes, NJ/Mt. Lakes) each had six points: Macro on four goals and two assists; Archer on three goals and three assists, and Vail on two goals and four assists.




Rounding out the scoring for Alfred were senior midfielder Anthony Fiorelli (Endicott/Union-Endicott) with three goals and a pair of assists and sophomore midfielder Carlo DiRisio (Prattsburgh/Penn Yan) with an assist.




Sophomore goalie Chris Wszalek (West Seneca/West Seneca East) played 52 minutes in goal for Alfred, allowing seven goals and making 10 saves. Freshman Drew Foster (Pittsford/Pittsford-Sutherland) played the final eight minutes in net and allowed one goal.
