COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Longwood captured a convincing 17-9 women’s collegiate lacrosse decision over NCAA Division I opponent Quinnipiac Sunday afternoon on the University of Maryland’s campus. With the win, the Lancers remain unbeaten and extend their record to 3-0 on the season, while the Bobcats drop to 0-2 overall.

Against Quinnipiac, Longwood had just a two-point margin (10-8) at the intermission, before the Lancer offense exploded during the second session en route to the road triumph. The Lancers found the back of the net seven times in the second half, while limiting the Bobcats to just one goal. The win marks Longwood’s third-straight and its second over a Division I opponent this season.

Junior Emily Bikowski/Fairfax (Bishop O’Connell) paced the Lancers during the contest, tallying five points on four goals and one assist. Senior Carlee Ullery/Keswick (Albemarle) and freshman Ali Shafer/Fairfax (Fairfax) each scored three goals – while dishing out an assist apiece. Seniors Kristy Taylor/Lorton (Bishop Ireton) and Tia Richardson/Ellicott City (Centennial) netted two goals each, while junior Leanne Kibler/Oakton (Oakton) along with freshmen Jenn Shipp/Charlottesville (Albemarle) and Kathleen Barry/Annandale (W.T. Woodson) posted a goal of their own. Kibler also had a team-best three assists. Junior Sophie Dress/Ellicott City, Md. (Howard) dished out two assists and classmate Isa Cohen/Mineral (Fairfax) record one assist.
Longwood keepers, junior Stacey Schmidt/Berlin, N.J. (Eastern Regional) and sophomore Emily Wilson/Owings, Md. (Northern) registered nine saves on the afternoon, getting four and five, respectively.
