Stevenson, MD.- Villa Julie defeated the visiting Elizabethtown College in a game taken to overtime, 9-8. The Mustangs jumped to take the lead early in the first quarter; scoring two within the first five minutes. However, the visiting Blue Jays netted four within the final five minutes of the first and two in the second taking the lead at halftime, 3-6.

Rallying ahead, the Mustangs held the Blue Jays to score only one point in each of the third and fourth quarters while Villa advanced with three goals from senior attack Nate Montanye (Gyndon, MD/Franklin), sophomore midfielder Dan Deaver (Baltimore, MD/Eastern Tech), and sophomore attack Matt Miller (Denver, CO/George Washington) in the third quarter.

Behind by one heading into the fourth quarter, Villa's Deaver shot one past the goalkeeper to tie the game at 7. After another Blue Jay goal with 10:29 on the clock, the Mustangs rallied once more to tie the game and head into overtime. The tying goal was off the stick of the leading scorer for the Mustangs: Dan Deaver, who finished with three goals. In overtime, the Mustangs controlled the ball and were able to get one past the Blue Jays with 1:24 remaining. The game winning goal came from freshman midfielder Joe Mruk (Finksburg, MD/Westminster) who came from behind the goal unassisted.

Leading Mustangs include Montanye with two goals, Miller with two goals, freshman defensive player Blake Marrocco (Phoenix, MD/Loyola Blakefield) with 8 groundballs, and senior captain (pictured) Matt Smoot (St. Mary's, MD/Great Mills) with 8 groundballs.

The Mustangs are back in action when they host Skidmore College on Friday, March 18th at 3pm.
