Maverik Backs Fightin’ Possums For ’08 and Beyond

Long Island City, NY, May 1, 2008 – Maverik Lacrosse, an innovative manufacturer of lacrosse equipment and lifestyle apparel, announced today that it will provide Florida’s premier All-Star travel club lacrosse team the Fightin’ Possums (www.possumslax.com) with custom branded equipment (shafts, gloves and pads) and instructional support from Team Maverik: John Gagliardi, Jay Jalbert, Sean Lindsay, Mike Springer, Stephen McElduff, Lou Braun, Kyle Sweeney, John Christmas and Stephen Berger.

“Lacrosse has really taken off in Northern and Central Florida,” said John Gagliardi, President and founder of Maverik Lacrosse. “Several players who have attended our ‘No Limit Lacrosse Camps’ over the past seven years have gone on to play for Division I, II and III teams. We hope that our involvement with the Fightin’ Possums will ultimately help their players reach the next level and help lacrosse to spread throughout Florida and other Southern states.”

“We have had phenomenal growth within Florida lacrosse and within the Possums organization, growing from one team to fourteen,” said Tom West, President and founder of the Florida Possums. Based on the Possum’s success in National tournaments and the number of their kids now being recruited to play higher level lacrosse, the partnership of Maverik and the Possums was an easy fit. “Maverik offers our players top-notch instruction from professional players that our Possums look up to as role models,” adds West. “However, the most important part of this agreement for us is the access to the players and coaches of Team Maverik and what they bring to Florida Lacrosse. We are confident that this union will be beneficial for the Possums, Maverik and Florida lacrosse overall.”
