BENDELL, HOGENCAMP LEAD FALCONS OVER QUINNIPIAC, 14-6

HAMDEN, Conn. --- Bill Bendell (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North
Syracuse HS) scored five goals and Dean Hogencamp (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth
HS) picked up six assists plus a goal as the sixth-ranked Bentley College
Falcons defeated the Quinnipiac College Braves 14-6 in Northeast-10
Conference men?s lacrosse Saturday afternoon.
Bentley (4-1, 3-0 NE-10) took an early 2-0 lead on two first period
goals by Jamie Mitchell (West Springfield/West Springfield HS). They broke
the game open with four goals in the second period, including three in a
span of 4:31, to take a 6-2 lead after the first half.
Bendell opened the second half by scoring three goals in a span of
4:58, with Hogencamp setting him up on two, giving the Falcons a 9-3 lead.
A Brian Quinlan for Quinnipiac (2-4, 2-2 NE-10) goal was sandwiched in
between the three tallies by Bendell. Bendell also scored twice in the
fourth to bring his season totals to 10 goals and 11 assists.
Bentley?s offense also included two goals apiece by Geoff Silva
(Billerica/ Billerica HS) and Ryan Donohue (Haverhill/Governor Dummer
Acad.), and one by both Jason McCafferty (Southington, Conn./Southington
HS) and Scott Driscoll (Weymouth/ Weymouth HS).
The Braves received two goals apiece from Brian Perry and Alex
Sbordone (Newton), but were unable to pull within five goals after the
first half. Also scoring for Quinnipiac was Steve Wertalik.
In net, senior goalie Matt Ehrlich (Lebanon, N.H./Bridgton Academy)
stopped 12 shots, and his counterpart Michael Sturmer stopped 17 for
Quinnipiac.
Bentley returns to action on Tuesday, April 7 when they face
seventh-ranked Pace University at home (7:30 p.m.) in a crucial
Northeast-10 conference match-up.
