THIS MONTH'S TOPIC: WHO'S THE GREATEST PLAYER EVER? AND WHY?

Jeff Cook and Gary Gait are among the greats. Who is your All-Time best?

JIM BROWN WAS THE BEST EVER

Ryan Powell is the best player ever. He tied all the records and his mix of power and finesse made him so exciting to watch. - ALEX

The best lax player ever is Mike Watson!

In my opinion, Matt Hahn was the greatest player ever.

Don't get me wrong, but the Gait Twins are great players for their time.... But the greatest player ever is out there and you never hear his name mention in the same breath as the Gait Twins...It is a shame that the current Syracuse fans are not aware of him or chose to ignore the legacy that he left on the lacrosse program, and him name is Jim Brown...Everyone knows him as the Football Great, but as a Lacrosse Great...Just ask any legendary coach alive today whom had played with him or saw him play...Pound for pound, Jim Brown is the "Greatest Lacrosse Player Ever" .....Period...

Jim Brown or Ron Doctor - Mark Gleason of Skaneateles, NY

Who the best player ever will always be open for arguement. But for those who have had the joy of watching a twenty year old from Kitchener grace the NLL floor will soon be awakened to the new ara of lacrosse. He is Colin Doyle!  His cockyness and ability have gotten him this far and will soon take him too the next step... where no other lacrosse player has taken the game !!He has picked up many talents from others and has learned how to take the game and dominate it!!  - Reginald

Ernie Betz and Fred Betz were 2 of the best players ever and they were brothers. Ernie played in the mid 50's and completed dominated the game as the best face-off man. His records held up for 20 yrs. Fred played in the early 60's and was a scoring machine. They are former All-Americans and Ernie is in the Hall of Fame, and UM Hall of Fame. They both played at Maryland when their teams completely dominated the game. - Scott.

Jim Brown of Syracuse! - Lucas Avery

The best player that i ever saw wasn't one that people normally think of. I picked Chris Surran former SU goalie. I haven't seen any one come close to being as good except maybe Dougherty from Maryland. Chris leads by exaple. There is no one on the field that husles more than this guy. When ever he comes out of the cage he is at 210%. He is the best. - Donny Ice

It's not an easy thing to say who the best ever is or was. But if you have to make a selection, you need to look at who has done the most for the advancement of the game. When you look at that, it's not hard to say the Gaits. Gary and Paul have elevated the game ever since they first stepped onto the field at Syracuse. They brought the level of playing higher and set a tone that others still follow. It was no different when they moved to the MILL/NLL. They became the dominant forces in the MILL/NLL and are directly responsible for a team being a contender for the title. Look what Paul did with Rochester the very first season they existed. Need I say more about the impact these two have on the game. I am a defenseman and although I would love the challenge of going up against them 1 on 1, there would still be fear and awe of what one of these two dynamic and highly skilled players could do to me on the field. How many men can say they have stopped the Gaits? I think you'd find more people have been to the moon. My vote goes to Gary and Paul Gait! - Bill Kendall

Begrudgingly,as I am NOT a Syracuse fan, the Gait twins are the greatest player.  Paul's skills, though not quite as overpowering as Gary's, took huge amounts of pressure off of his brother.  The resulting mismatch cleared the way for Gary to radically change the way a midfielder is utilized.Uh, he also scored a few points along the way. - Laxhound

Michael Watson best player I've seen - he has an uncommon head for the game as well as awesome athletic ability. - Chris Watson (no implied relation)

We know who the greatest players (twins) are; remember these two guys? Eamon Macaneany (or whatever his name is), was absolutely sick! The always dirty #7, O'Neal. Got mauled week after week but always found the net. - tillz, Seagull '85

Frank Urso - Michael & Diane Cukro

Paul Gait is the best! - Tom

Gary and Paul Gait are Michael Jordan squared - A Syracuse Fan

Remember Guy Matracini. He was the best D-Man. He and Mark Greenberg! - Bill Marshon

The best lax player ever is Mike Watson. -Ron

In my opinion, Matt Hahn was the greatest player ever. -Ruppy
