YOUR OPINIONS

E-Lacrosse will pose a question to our viewers every so often. Viewers are asked to e-mail their responses and commentaries to John@tonabricks.com. We will post as many as we can.
Please remember that this is a lacrosse publication read by people of all ages, so please stay civilized or we will not post your response. Ugliness and prejudice are never needed to support a valid position.

NLL COVERAGE

E-Lacrosse has covered the NLL for two seasons and has never attracted advertising dollars from the league, individual teams or, most importantly, NLL driven sponsors. THE BIG QUESTION: Do our readers want NLL coverage? The Thunder left Baltimore, the field lacrosse capital of the world, due to lack of interest. We enjoy covering the indoor game but it is very expensive to do well. We get very little feedback from readers about the coverage or the league.

WOMEN'S PRO LACROSSE

With the tremendous success of Women's World Cup Soccer, E-Lacrosse asks its readers: Is the time right for a Women's Pro League? Women are awakening as sports fans and are projected to make up more than half the stadium attendance at sporting events by the year 2008. Is this lacrosse's big chance as women seek more sports entertainment?

HIGH SCHOOL # 1

Who was 1999's High School Number 1?

Is it McDonogh, Ward Melville or Landon? Or is it another team? Maybe Wilton or Upper Arlington? Melville didn't lose and beat West Genny in the NY final. Landon lost only one game; a very early contest with St.Paul's in the MIAA but then beat three of the four MIAA final four teams in impressive fashion, en route to their 19th straight Washington DC Area crown. McDonogh won the MIAA in Baltimore for the first time in 50 years with one of the best baltimore High School teams ever. There is no clear cut # 1. It really is that close! So, you get to choose! Girls, Is it Mt. Hebron? NDP or Bryn Mawr? Maybe a team outside of Baltimore? Let us know!

E-Lacrosse is preparing a story about the effectiveness of USLacrosse. A comparison to the growth of Hockey over 20 years and a report card on the handling of the World Games will highlight this feature. We need your feedback to be fair in reporting. Our experiences and observations, we regret, have not left them in a very good light and the mail we have received from people close to the organization and afar have been a bit one sided, but we keep an open mind. So please share your experiences in dealing with USLacrosse, both positive and negative. Remember to sign your comments, if at all possible. Open and honest debate is good for the game and your opinions will not be held against you as long as you are polite and attempt to support your arguments. Many of the "save the dive" comments we have received have been unsuitable for publication. We realize that some issues are close to the heart and emotions get heightened, but the only time your opinion doesn't count on E-Lacrosse is when you can't voice it with class. Thanks folks. -John Weaver, Editor

MILL / NLL Merger

The MILL merged with the newly formed NLL in July of 1997, after pressure from players. This means more teams in more cities in the US and Canada. There could be a team in Washington and a team in Baltimore. Syracuse finally gets a team. Television contracts are considerred paramount by those in charge. Building sound relations with media and marketing the game as more than a hockey fight seem to be the new plan. Teams are now owned individually and a draft for college players is being planned. All of these features of the new league lend the sport some needed organizational legitimacy and put considerable distance between them and the Pro-Wrestling "just a show" image of Monster Truck Rallies and the Roller Derby which were the sports older siblings within the original management structure. They also ensure more stability to the year to year personnel on each team. A fan can expect to see his favorite players from the last year when he shows up the next. We would like to know what you think of all of this! Will You buy tickets for the NLL, and why?

Who's the best Lacrosse Coach you've ever played for? And why?
This is not a contest. We would like to allow our readers to define a "Great Coach" through relaying why they loved the Coaches they've had. All levels of competition and success (wins and losses) are acceptable for this one, as we all know that great coaches can be found at any level of the game and in any region of the world. Have fun!

Loss of Michigan State Program

Sources from Michigan State University and The University of New Hampshire claim that the gender equity goals of Title IX have been the primary impetus for the cancellation of both Men's lacrosse teams.
