We have received tons of e-mail about the Complete Pocket and a few orders too. I invented this with the attackman and middie in mind but lately more and more defenseman are requesting them.
The Complete pocket uses the Stylin' Strings side-coil design which forces the ball to sit directly in the center of the pocket. Giving the Complete Pocket extreme accuracy and excellent control. A tight X shaped weave mimicks a hard mesh, allowing the ball more movement than many of our custom pockets. This results in quicker, harder passes and shots. The Complete pocket is harder to string than a hard mesh but easier to maintain, more reliable, more weather resistant and durable.
- 4 Leathers (brown or white)
- 1 30" length of nylon
- An unstrung head
Prepare your materials
- Stretch the leathers
Start on the outside of the head, and run the sidewall down the outside of the head, if you are having trouble refer to previous articles. Pull tightly through the bottom and tie a knot.
Do this to both sides of the head, they should mirror each other.
Run the two leathers in through the two outer holes. Run the middle leathers on this one too.
You are going to do a set of coils running from the sidewall to the outer leather. The amount of coils will vary from head to head. The best way to do it is pull the nylon firmly to the leather and wrap it around the leather. Start coiling the nylon until there's no more space and the coils form tightly together. Run this until there are six sets of coils. Pull through the bottom and tie a knot.
Do this along both sides, making sure it's symmetrical.
Step 4: Nylon
Start with the same hole used to do a coil and run the nylon through the top hole created by the closest outer leather, form here run the nylon down to where the first X is wrapped around the inner leathers. From here it's just traditional stringing all the way down running between the coils to the X each time.
Repeat this on both sides so that it is symmetrical, if your coils are symmetrical then this step should be quite easy. Pull through the bottom precut holes and tie off.
Step 5: Middle X row
Starting with the two inner leathers string a tight X down so that when you reach the bottom precut holes there are 9 or 10 X's, the amount depends on the head. Feel it out if you string in 9 and there is a lot of space then string10, if you string 9 and it ends at the precut holes then 9 is enough. Pull the nylon through the precut hole and tie it off.

Step 6: Shooters
Remember that a hockey lace is put in the same way a coil is, With this pocket it is extremely easy, just follow the line that the coils already create for you.
Now your done! Break it in and have fun!
